REDS Intermediate
The REDS Intermediate is a roll distribution system (for toilet paper and paper towels) that is particularly compact and efficient. It is based on a modular system designed to autonomously distribute incoming production from the log saw according to the needs of the downstream machines.
In each incoming channel, product accumulation from the log saw is managed and then transferred downstream in “trains”—generally replicating the log saw’s output configuration.
In addition to accumulation management, each channel must include devices that allow product transfer according to predefined quantities. The number of rolls handled per launch can be adjusted via software.
The REDS Intermediate can distribute rolls based on the preferred configuration, either horizontally, vertically, or both.
Functioning modes:
- Sorting system (i.e. flow divider or diverter). In this case the flow of product at one entry is deviated into two exits.
- Combiner: in this case the flow of product coming from two entries is directed towards an individual exit.
- By-pass: in this case the REDS acts as a simple conveyor (example, sorting system with wrapper out of use, or combiner with a log-saw out of use).
- Balancer: in the case of the Intermediate REDS with two entry levels and two exit levels, it may be necessary to supply the downstream machine with a greater quantity of product from that arriving from an individual log-saw.
